Kings Plant Barn
Project Type
Retail New Build Installation
Location
Lunn Ave, Mount Wellington, Auckland
CGI Electrical Maintenance was engaged by the lead contractor, Robert Cunningham Construction (RCC), to perform electrical and data supply as well as the installation for the new Kings Plant Barn store.
This project was significant as it served as the flagship store for Kings Plant Barn, showcasing their new look and sustainable approach. We took great pride in delivering our installation to their precise design specifications, and Cheshire Architects were particularly pleased with our ability to interpret and bring their vision to life.
Budget
The entire project was over budget so RCC requested our assistance in finding some cost-saving measures. We were able to identify savings from the original specifications provided by a third-party consultant. By paring back on unnecessary costs with switchboards, lighting control systems, and light fitting selections, we were able to avoid delays in the project and still exceed expectations in both cost savings and the final result.
Partnerships
For the data and security aspects of the project, we partnered with Soundcraft, who we have a longstanding professional relationship with. This existing foundation of collaboration allowed us to drive efficiencies into the project and achieve a high-quality outcome through effective teamwork.
Challenges
COVID-related supply chain issues caused delays in the delivery of equipment for the job. However, we were able to manage these issues through our extensive, trusted, and valued relationships with suppliers. The project management of the electricity supply to the site also presented its own set of challenges. Due to missing information in the original design specifications, we had to engage in extensive communication and coordination with the land developer, electricity supplier, and our management team to resolve the issue within the project timeline.
